Review: Tory Burch Joie Fleur Verte Perfume

I was rather dismayed to find out that J.Crew has has discontinued my current two fragrances, No. 31 and No. 57. As much as I love these two fragrances very much--No. 57 will probably go down as one of my all-time favorite scents--I am a tad tired of them. I want something soft and light for everyday wear and kept that in mind while Christmas shopping. While looking for sweaters for my mom, I came across Tory Burch's new line of three fragrances and decided to give one of them a try.
I chose the Jolie Fleur Verte for its notes of lily of the valley, mandarin oranges, and jasmine. The Tory Burch website describes the scent:
Jolie Fleur Verte captures the crisp green color and dewy aroma of lily of the valley in Tory Burch’s garden. A tomboy and easygoing mix — hints of mandarin, neroli oil and jasmine open up into soft scents of lily of the valley.
Perfect, right? I couldn't find any reviews online so I picked up the rollerball just in case I didn't like it.

The scents opens up with a scream of citrus and and whatever "dewey green accord" is--it's rather soapy. The citrus is more grapefruit than mandarin orange and those first few minutes after application reminds me of Clinique Happy (of which I'm not a fan).  Once that citrus blast has died down, Jolie Fleur Verte turns into a very basic but lovely powdery white floral. Don't set your expectations high because this comes from Tory Burch. There's nothing outstanding or unusual about it. However, I think that might just be her point.

I have mixed feelings about this scent. In many ways it's what I wanted: a subtle aroma that doesn't announce my arrival into the room. It has really good staying power. The one thing that's really keeping me from liking this perfume more are those opening notes. They're really just too powerful for my tastes.

I'm not sure if I'm going to keep the perfume. I'm trying to talk myself into liking it more than I really do to see if it may grow on me, so I'm going to wear it for the next week or so. If I decide against it, I'll just return it and continue my search.
